Greetings Miller and Cotter Families,
As most of you are aware, there was a very scary incident in our neighborhood afterschool last Friday. A few blocks from our buildings, a person fired a gun while in their home. Although this situation was very unsettling for all of us, fortunately, no one was physcially injured. We want to commend the heroic actions of the Dearborn Police and their ability to bring a quick and peaceful end to this situation.
This incident shows us how an uncommon, and potentially dangerous, event can occur anywhere, at any time, even in our peaceful and kind neighborhood. The incident on Friday didn’t pose an immediate threat to our two school buildings. However, it is important that we continue to take every precaution to keep our schools safe.
Along with our own Safety and Security Director, we have been in conversations with the Dearborn Police regarding any measures that we can take to be proactive in preventing any future safety risk to our school. We have taken precautionary steps that will continue to keep our school safe. Our staff is aware of the person that was involved in Friday’s incident and we will not allow this person to be on school property.
Being proactive is the best way to keep our schools and community safe. This is the reason each school in the district has a comprehensive Emergency Management Plan. We will continue to practice our emergency drills, review procedures, and most importantly, work with all of you to keep an open line of communication.
If any parent has specific questions or concerns, please reach out to either one of us at the school your child attends. By working together as one community, our children will be safe whether they are playing in the neighborhood, walking to or from school, or while attending Miller and Cotter.

تحياتي لعائلتي ميلر وكوتر،
كما يعلم معظمكم، كان هناك حادث مخيف للغاية في حينا بعد المدرسة يوم الجمعة الماضي. على بعد عدة أبنية من مبانينا، حيث أطلق شخص النار من مسدس أثناء وجوده في منزلهم. على الرغم من أن هذا الوضع كان مقلقًا للغاية بالنسبة لنا جميعًا، إلا أنه لحسن الحظ لم يصب أحد بأذى جسدي. نريد أن نثني على الأعمال البطولية التي قامت بها شرطة ديربورن وقدرتها على وضع نهاية سريعة وسلمية لهذا الوضع.
يوضح لنا هذا الحادث احتمالية وقوع حوادث غير عادية، ومن المحتمل أن تكون خطيرة، في أي مكان وفي أي وقت، حتى في جوارنا المسالم واللطيف. لم يشكل الحادث الذي وقع يوم الجمعة تهديدًا مباشرًا لمدرستينا ومع ذلك، من المهم أن نستمر في اتخاذ كل الاحتياطات اللازمة للحفاظ على مدارسنا آمنة.
أجرينا محادثات مع شرطة ديربورن ومع مديرة السلامة والأمن لدينا، بخصوص أي إجراءات استباقية يمكن اتخاذها لمنع أي مخاطر مستقبلية على سلامة مدرستنا.لقد اتخذنا خطوات احترازية من شأنها أن تستمر في الحفاظ على مدرستنا آمنة. إن موظفينا على علم بالشخص المتورط في حادثة الجمعة ولن نسمح لهذا الشخص بالتواجد في ممتلكات المدرسة.
إن أفضل طريقة للحفاظ على سلامة مدارسنا ومجتمعنا هي الإجراءات الاستباقية. ولهذا السبب تمتلك كل مدرسة في القطاع خطة شاملة لإدارة الطوارئ. سنستمر في ممارسة تدريبات الطوارئ وإجراءات المراجعة، والأهم من ذلك، العمل معكم جميعًا للحفاظ على خط الاتصال مفتوح.
إذا كان لدى اي منكم أسئلة أو مخاوف محددة، فيرجى التواصل مع أي منا في مدرستك طفلك. من خلال العمل معًا، كمجتمع واحد، نضمن سلامة وأمن طلابنا سواء أثناء اللعب في الحي أو السير من وإلى المدرسة، أو أثناء حضورهم في مدرسة ميلر وكوتر.
